At the Stoddart Funeral Home, we believe that arranging your funeral
ahead of time is most important. Contrary to popular belief, no prepayment
has to take place when you arrange your funeral ahead of time. Having your
wishes and specific instruction on paper is the most essential part of the
process. If you would like to prepay your funeral, it can be done in
a number of ways. Payments can be made monthly or at intervals that
accommodate your budget or lifestyle. We strongly endorse prepaying
through a company called Fortis Benefits Insurance Company. The benefits
of this Program are numerous. The price of the funeral can be locked in.
In other words no further payments are required. Any funds that are left
over after the funeral has taken place will be refunded to the beneficiary
tax-free. Of course the peace of mind that occurs from prepayment is a
great feeling and the earlier in life you prepay your funeral through
Fortis, the less you pay for a prepaid funeral. Ask us about these benefits.
If you wish to prepay your funeral and do not want to be involved with
insurance, you can simply invest through the funeral home by purchasing a
G.I.C. Again, most of the same benefits exist in this program as in the
insurance process, except excess money which has to be returned to the estate of
the deceased and therefore, taxed at that time. Of course, not all prepaid
funerals have an excess but no further moneys will be required if there were
insufficient funds to pay for the funeral. Ask us how this procedure could
benefit you and your family.
Special wishes, special instructions, special music or special funeral rites
may all be part of your celebration of life. Ask us about these special wishes.
